    The Preserve at Shady Oaks is (2) buildings of affordable workforce housing and is part of a (3) building master development with the Legends of Minnetonka building. Each building had its own challenges. 

     The western most building was built into the side of a hill and required a large scale permanent sheeting system be installed.  A retaining wall was built in front of the sheeting and structurally tied into it.  In addition, prior to foundation work beginning a soils correction had to be performed.

     Due to poor soils the southern buildings foundation and slab on grade is supported by GeoPier Impact System.  This system stiffens the soils to allow for a traditional foundation system to be utilized.  The structure consists of (2) 5-story structures over a continuous parking garage.  The buildings are separated by a large plaza consisting of seating over decorative concrete, synthetic turf, and landscaping over the garage below.
